About David Copson

David is a private, family oriented man. He lives in rural central Virginia with his mystical wife of 40 years. His five children and soon-to-be eight grandchildren all live nearby.

Raising that family kept David focused on being the breadwinner for many years. He was fortunate enough to find a niche working in the printmaking field where he was in demand as a chromiste - a sort of ghostwriter - hand drawing the color separations for the fine art lithographs of other artists.

The main creative impetus for David’s paintings began on a Vision Quest in the Inyo Mountains of the California high desert. On that profound journey of self discovery, David was struck by both the majesty of the clear star-studded night sky and by the sublime inner source of himself. In a flash of awareness, he was given the medicine name of Light into Being – a name that invigorates his art and motivates his life.

Diverse interests influence his work - from Cherokee Mysticism, Sacred Geometry, Feng Shui, and leading-edge Cosmology to Fantasy and Science-Fiction.

Every day, David seeks a recharge of inspiration from without via the Astronomy Picture of the Day website and from within in meditation as he climbs the mountain behind his studio with his faithful dog, Alyssa.
